Demystify Security?
Demystify: make (a difficult subject) clearer and easier to understand..
The above definition, provided by Oxford Dictionaries, is essentially why Demystify Security was formed. For years the world of Information and more recently ‘Cyber’ security has been seen as some kind of black art. By organisations it has been seen as a ‘blocker’, there to ‘slow down’ the next big project.
For many organisations, the use of information is about exploiting opportunities, primarily to gain advantage, whether it be competitive (in industry), or driven by more legislative reasoning, for instance within government. In order for the importance of security to be understood, it must be embraced by the part of the organisation that matters the most, ‘the business’; the guys who decide the purpose for which information is processed in the first place.
The demystify approach is therefore about building awareness first and empowering organisations to ‘stand up’ for themselves in understanding how much (security) is enough.
The concept of ‘how much is enough’ will be explored further throughout the pages of this site, but essentially the Demystify approach is to assist organisations in building confidence in their own decision making.
Security is an enabler…
